Season 15 begins withEmbrace of the Serpent(Colombia, 2015). At once blistering and poetic, the ravages of colonialism cast a dark shadow over the South American landscape. Filmed in stunning black-and-white, Embrace of the Serpent centres on the shaman and the last survivors of his people, and the two scientists who over the course of 40 years, built a friendship with him. The film was inspired by the real-life journals of two explorers (Theodor Koch-Grünberg and Richard Evans Schultes) who travelled through the Colombian Amazon during the last century in search of the sacred and difficult-to-find psychedelic Yakruna plant.
Tickets are €8.50/€7 and are sold at the door. Season tickets for all ten films are available for €60/€45 - a savings of €25.
