With filming is currently taking place in Hawaii, Dwayne Johnson has taken to social media to take on a brief tour of the set that doubles for the jungle of the enchanted board game from the much loved Robin Williams classic. Following on from the first image recently released (which can be seen at the below), the video gives us a look at Johnson’s Dr. Smolder Bravestone and his trio of cast mates, Kevin Hart (Moose Finbar), Karen Gillan (Ruby Roundhouse), and Jack Black (Professor Shelley Oberon).
For those wondering about the jungle setting, a recent casting announcement may shed some light on that. Alex Woolf (brother to Paper Towns and Death Note’s Nat), Madison Iseman, Ser’Darius Blain, and Morgan Turner have being cast, with Johnson dubbing them the ‘Jumanji Juniors’, and Mashable's Jeff Sneider has revealed that they play four kids stuck in detention who discover the game, and the main cast are their avatars within the game (would explain the names). So it’s safe to assume the movie will mostly be set within the world of the game as opposed to it encroaching on the real world like the original movie. Further rumours suggest that the game this time round is no longer a board game but a video game, which is something I think a lot of people expected.
Jumanji (or whatever it ends up being called) is set for release July 28th 2018.
