Last month, word came our way that pre-production on Mission: Impossible 6 in London had been halted, with Paramount Pictures putting the brakes on the prep for another of Ethan Hunt’s adventures due to contract disputes with star Tom Cruise. You wouldn’t think this sort of thing would happen with Cruise been the face of the billion dollar grossing franchise for two decades, but this unexpected turn came from the studio, who are co-financing the movie with Skydance, taking a hard stance on issues such as back-end participation. Sure, this turn of events came out of left field, but with the franchise and star being as popular as they are, we expected this to be cleared up quite quickly. And sure enough, according to The Hollywood Reporter, it has, with Cruise said to be close to closing out his deal to return to the spy franchise, teaming up once again with Jack reacher and Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation director/scribe Christopher McQuarrie. This unease the prep on the movie, with production now set to begin in the Spring of 2017.
