Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s so far untitled Young Han Solo movie (coming our way May 25th 2018) is probably the most intriguing project in development at the moment, with a of lot of speculation on what iconic Star Wars characters will appear and who will be cast as younger versions of these characters. We already know Alden Ehrenreich will stepping into the shoes of everyone’s favourite space faring scoundrel, and now Lucasfilm has announced he will be joined by another iconic member of the Star Wars universe, Lando Clarissian. What’s more, they have also announced some near perfect casting, with Donald Glover pulling on the baby blue cape to play everyone’s second favourite space faring scoundrel.
If you’ve seen Community, his latest t.v. show Atlanta, or even his role in The Martain, you’ll know he’s one hell of a tremendous talent, able to juggle the comedic and dramatic effortlessly. He also brings with him tons of charisma, making him the perfect person to take the role from Billy Dee Williams. Hell, even before this announcement, he was clear favourite to play the character long before we knew he would appear. Lord and Miller seem to agree, saying this about his casting:
“We’re so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, we’d like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.”
