While Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice can’t be called a universally acclaimed movie, it’s safe to say that Ben Affleck’s Batman was one the elements that worked the best, so much so that fans are waiting with bated breath for Batfleck to don the cowl once again in a solo outing. That movie is coming, with a tentative release date rumoured for 2019, with Affleck directing and co-writing with comics legend Geoff Johns. We’ve heard little about so far, with the only concrete detail is that Bats will going toe to with Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, but now another layer of the mystery has been peeled back, with Affleck telling the Associated Press that the movie has a very straight to the point title:
“The movie I think is going to be called ‘The Batman’. At least that’s what we’re going with right now. I might change it… That’s about all I got right now. We’re working on the script, the script is going well, I’m really excited about it.”
Long rumoured to be the movie’s working title, this is pretty simple and a welcome departure from the subtitle heavy names most recent super hero movie have been saddled with. Of course, as Affleck says himself, this title could change at any time during production, but personally I hope it ends up sticking.
