Sausage Party was a weird movie. I’m not just talking the food orgy, but also a lot of the meta elements with Seth Rogen and co-writer Evan Goldberg going for broke with an ending that pulverised the fourth wall. But it could have been a hell of a lot weirder as this alternate ending, released to promote the movie Digital HD release, shows with the animated foodstuffs coming to our world and meeting the actors who lent them their voices.
It’s actually a pretty funny scene, and offers a bit more closure than just watching them disappear into a target made out of a toilet seat. But with the movie banking $136 million off the bak of a $19 million budget, this probably won’t be the last time we’ll be seeing the could mouthed animated characters so there’s plenty of room to develop this idea for the sequel.
