Finally, we get a substantial look at next year's Ghost in The Shell remake. We've been treated to six cryptic fifteen second clips over the past couple months, but very little has been given away about the controversial project from Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders. The film has received the stamp of approval from the original 1995 anime's director Mamoru Oshii, and from this first trailer it's clear that the remake is intent on capturing the style, aesthetic and cyberpunk spirit of the source material. Whether Ghost in The Shell can rise above the 'white-washing' controversy and prove to be more substance than style remains to be seen, but it's hard not to be curious after one look at this breathtaking, action packed trailer:
Synopsis: Based on the internationally-acclaimed Japanese Anime property, GHOST IN THE SHELL follows Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9 devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists. Directed by Rupert Sanders. The film stars Scarlett Johansson, "Beat" Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Michael Pitt, Pilou Asbæk, and Kaori Momoi.
