For their follow-up to Deadpool, screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are sticking with Ryan Reynolds but getting a tad bit more serious with Life, a sci-fi horror thriller which sees a group of astronauts (including Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson) coming into contact with the first evidence of biological life on Mars. Of course, things start to get out of hand from there.
This first trailer does show a lot of promise, coming across like The Martian with more distinct undertones of horror, and director Daniel Espinosa (Safehouse) has assembled one hell of a cast. I’m a sucker for space set horror movies, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on this one.
Released: 12th May 2017 (IRL/U.K.)/ 26th May 2017 (U.S.)
