Pixar’s Cars has always been considered the lesser of the legendary animation company’s output, putting jokes above heart and basically just a vehicle (I’m not apologising) to sell toys by the truckload. But then our first look at Cars 3 did something crazy and tease a slightly darker, more emotional story with Owen Wilson’s Lightning McQueen dealing with the fact that he might not have what it takes to be a race car anymore, the only life he’s ever know. A new extended look has come our way, shedding more light on that story that basically comes across as any come back sports movie you care to name. While this isn’t Pixar going gritty, it is intriguing to see them treating this red headed step child of a franchise a lot differently than we’ve previously seen.
Released: 14th July
