A new trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming comes our way tomorrow, but before that, some new images from Spidey's highly anticipated foray into the MCU have come our way, courtesy of USA Today, that put the focus solely on Michael Keaton's villain Adrian Toomes, also known as the high flying Vulture, complete with an updated costume that echoes his four colour counterpart.
The publication also has an interview with director Jon Watts, shedding some light on this “regular joe” villain. Turns out this blue collar villain’s origin ties directly into Tony Stark, with Toomes running a company that cleans up the streets of New York after the numerous super hero battles that plague the city (this is possibly Damage Control, which ABC were looking to bring to t.v. as a comedy series). But when everyone’s favourite billionaire, playboy, philanthropist founds his own government funded organisation to do the same thing, Toomes enlists the help of the Shocker (Bokeem Woodbine) and the Tinkerer (Michael Chernus) to sell hi-tech weaponry to other criminals using scavenged alien artefacts. I kinda love this take on the character, with street level villain being the perfect foil for Spider-Man to fight against.
