Universal are pulling the trigger on their shared Monster Universe with The Mummy, and a new trailer has come our showing exactly what this modern day remake has in store for us.
So a lot of Tom Cruise being Tom Cruise and some pretty impressive effects, including the long awaited return of the giant face in a cloud of sand. I don’t know about you, but I’m fairly excited for this. Cruise’s Nick morton being used as a puppet for Sofia Boutella’s evil Egyptian princess (complete with ultra creepy double irises) is a nice wrinkle to the story, and despite the modern setting, there’s something decidedly old school about the adventuring on display here.
Released: June 9th
Synopsis: Thought safely entombed in a tomb deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient princess (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
