Arnie Will Be Back For Terminator 6

Following the poor critical and fan reaction to Paramount’s planned first step in a new rebooted trilogy, Terminator: Genisys, the future of the Terminator franchise was up in the air for quite a while.  First, it was announced any future sequels were on hold. Then, it was being ‘re-adjusted’, it was back on, it was cancelled, it’s might be back on again. It was quite the journey Terminator fans went on. The last we heard was that James Cameron would be returning to the franchise after he gets back the rights in 2019, ‘godfathering’ a new reboot with Deadpool’s Tim Miller in talks to direct.

It’s being all quiet since then, but now we get an update from none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, who speaking to Screen at Cannes, confirms the project is still moving forward, and he will be returning to the franchise once more:

It is back.It is moving forward. He [Cameron] has some good ideas of how to continue with the franchise. I will be in the movie.

It’s looking very likely that we won’t see Terminator 6 till after 2020 at the earliest, so everything could change between now and then, but the prospect of Schwarzenegger and Cameron teaming up one more time is an exciting one. Sure, he’s pushing 70 now, but the Austrian Oak is so synonymous with the franchise, that it would be wrong not to have present in some capacity.
