Disney and Tim Burton’s epic 3D fantasy adventure ALICE IN WONDERLAND broke through the looking glass and smashed records all the way to the top of the box office across the world this weekend, taking a staggering €1.15M in Ireland, over $116.3M in the US, and $210M globally.
The film is the No. 1 Disney Ireland opening weekend of all time, surpassing the previous 3 day week GBO success of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 (€1.1M).
ALICE IN WONDERLAND is the biggest 3D opening of all time in Ireland, beating Avatar’s opening 3 day weekend by 56%. 3D is the big driver, generating almost 80% of the total gross box office.
ALICE IN WONDERLAND is the biggest March opening weekend in the history of Irish cinema box office, and also marks the best opening of a Johnny Depp film in Ireland.
