Epic 3D fantasy adventure ‘Alice in Wonderland’ broke a new record for director Tim Burton over the Easter weekend as ‘Alice’ surpassed his former box office hit ‘Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’ (€3.992M), with a cumulative of €4.125M making ‘Alice In Wonderland’ his biggest Irish box office success ever.
‘Alice In Wonderland’ also became the 3rd biggest Irish release for The Walt Disney Company. ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest’ which grossed €4.207M final box office is currently second. However, with many Irish schools on holiday for another week ‘Alice’ is likely to remain a firm favourite at the box office and is on course to become our 2nd biggest release ever.
