Ok so it’s not Avatar 2, but James Cameron is returning to Brazil to make a 3D film on the indigenous people of the Amazon who oppose construction to a huge dam as they fear it could flood their tribal lands.
"I want to return to meet some of the leaders of the Xikrin-Kayapo tribe who invited me," the director told the Folha de Sao Paulo newspaper."I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture," said Cameron, whose blockbuster movie Avatar tells the story of the peaceful Na'Vi people who live in harmony with nature on the planet Pandora and wage a bloody fight against strip-miners from Earth.
I know many expected Avatar 2 to be next on his list, but if there are to be another 2 Avatar films, which no doubt will take up to 4-6 years all told, Cameron wants to flex the creative muscle elsewhere before commiting to another few years of Na’Vi. That’s what I’d do anyway!
