Martin Freeman is onboard as Bilbo Baggins for the Hobbit movie, released in 2 parts in December 2012 and 2013. And now Peter Jackson has announced some more castings.
Richard Armitage (Captain America: The First Avenger) will play Thorin Oakenshield the hean honcho of the Company of Dwarves. Aidan Turner (Being Human) and Rob Kazinsky will play Kili and Fili. Dwalin will be played by Graham McTavish (Secratariat). John Callen takes on the role of Oin and Stephen Hunter (All Saints) will play Bombur. To wrap on this mammoth amount of casting news, Mark Hadlo stars as Dori and Gloin will be played by Peter Hambleton.
The big bone of contention was always going to be Bilbo, but for Peter Jackson, Martin Freeman was the only guy for the job."Despite the various rumours and speculation surround this role, there has only ever been one Bilbo Baggins for us," Peter Jackson said. There are a few times in your career when you come across an actor who you know was born to play a role, but that was the case as soon as I met Martin. He is intelligent, funny, surprising and brave--exactly like Bilbo and I feel incredibly proud to be able to announce that he is our Hobbit."
