A prequel of sorts to The Wizard of Oz. Oz: The Great and Powerful from Disney, chronicles the Wizard’s time in the land of Oz before Dorothy shows up and starts causing problems. Well, the wonderful Sam Raimi (Spiderman, Evil Dead and so on) will take on directorial duties and rumours are flying that Robert Downey Jr. may also take on a lead role. Before Raimi signed on the dotted line (I presume they have dotted lines at Disney, although I’d imagine it’s more of a straight line) the likes of Sam Mendes and Timur Bekmambetov were also in contention to direct!
