A new annual four day comedy film festival dedicated to the memory of Charlie Chaplin will open next year (2011) from August 25th to 28th in Waterville, Co. Kerry. Chaplin spent every summer in Waterville with his family for almost 40 years. According to the Charlie Chaplin Comedy Film Website, the festival will be packed full of events including premieres, screenings, talks, workshops, awards ceremonies and plenty of 1920s style parties.
Organisers are currently looking for filmmakers to submit comedy films under 30 minutes that show 'innovation, experimentation and originality'. Winners will pick up what is sure to become a much coveted award known as The Charlie.
