Warner Bros. have announced this morning via press release that they are in the early stages of planning a reboot/remake/re-imagining (or whatever word is being thrown around right now) of the 1992 movie 'The Buffy The Vampire Slayer'. Most of you know Buffy as being the lead in the TV series of the same name, but years before this there was the box-office bomb starring Donald Sutherland, Rutger Hauer and the tall guy from Beverly Hills 90210. It's interesting that the WB guys have chosen the original film as the source material for this project, as the television counterpart is widely believed to be the better Buffy. The studio has also hired Whit Anderson, who wrote the Jim Carrey comedy Yes Man, to write the screenplay.
I can't deny it. I'm excited for more Buffy. I've always been a fan so this will hopefully be totally fantastically awesome. Or at least I can use it as an excuse to dig out the DVD's again.
