An interesting and very brief interview with The Wolfman director, Joe Johnston, just cropped up online over at ComicBookMovie, where the filmmaker chats about his upcoming Captain America: The First Avenger. He also briefly touches on his (fairly negative) experience on The Wolfman. Some interesting quotes from the director; "To fully understand the Captain America experience, I have to keep reminding myself that I had just come off another film I shot in the UK, The Wolfman". He elaborates, "I had three weeks prep on Wolfman, a ridiculously inadequate amount of time to try to bring together the fractured and scattered pieces of the production". He also goes on to mention that the pay slip helped his decision for joining The Wolfman. And for Captain America, he explains, "I had the best designers, artists, sculptors, craftspeople..." and "Captain America was probably the most universally positive experience I've had in this mad business".
Sounds like overall, Johnston is happy with everything that's happening, or has happened with the upcoming blockbuster. It's a great sign, at least to me, when a director seems genuine in his happiness rather than the usual, final countdown, just-about-to-release-a-craptastical-movie-but-gotta-save-face attitude.
