Warner Bros. remake of the classic 1976 sci-fi flick, Logan's Run has just scored a director and leading man. Announced today over at Heat Vision Blog, the new Logan will be played by Ryan Gosling (The Notebook, Lars & The Real Girl) and will be directed by arthouse maestro, Nicolas Winding Refn (Bronson, Valhalla Rising). The script is penned by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) and his draft is said to mirror the original novel rather than the '76 Michael York film. It will be interesting to see how Refn's first Hollywood film, an action thriller titled Drive, will turn out. I'm wondering will it be subject to the common studio meddling, ala Mathieu Kassovitz with Babylon A.D.
We'll have to wait and see, in the meantime, enjoy the campy goodness of the original's trailer!
