That headline may be a little head scratching. Collider got the scoop this week that Stephen Sommers, director of such crud-buckets as The Mummy Returns and G.I. Joe: Rise Of The Cobra, is tapped to direct Odd Thomas. The flick is an adaptation of a novel of the same name by Dean Koontz. Also just attached to the project is Anton Yelchin, whom previously starred in Star Trek and Terminator: Salvation. The thing that strikes me the most about this story is the fact that it's an adaptation of a Koontz novel. Generally regarded as the B-list Stephen King, any previous adaptations of his work have turned out to be stinkers. We'll have to wait and see, as the plot does sound kind of cool (a young man who has the odd gift of communicating with the dead), so stay tuned for more news on the project as it comes in.
