
Well as you'll see for yourself, it's certainly promising. The Inception-rip-off music aside, there's much to like here although at the same time, it's not all good. What we see of the apes is fantastic - as we'd expect from Weta - and it's not out for months so we can expect the effects to be topnotch come release time. The setting, too, is great, and it doesn't feel like a prequel for the sake of it - it looks like an origin story worth telling. We hear mention of some sort of 'cure' which may be reminiscent of I Am Legend, so of course no way are things going to go smoothly. Although he has shown plenty of form lately I'm not entirely convinced James Franco is the right choice to lead but time will tell. You can't argue with the supporting cast though, which includes Freida Pinto, John Lithgow and the always good Brian Cox alongside Kong himself, Andy Serkis, as the first ape to wise up, Caesar.
