Speaking yesterday at the inaugural Kapow! Comic-Con in London, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish announced they have finished and submitted their script for Ant-Man. While the pair were out promoting Attack The Block, Cornish's directorial debut about Aliens invading a South London high-rise estate, they briefly mentioned, "We delivered the second draft of Ant-Man two days ago and we're really happy with it". The film will follow the comic-book hero Hank Pym, a biochemist who uses a size-altering scientific formula to shrink himself. He also gains the ability to communicate with insects. While the character is a member of The Avengers, he won't appear in the upcoming Joss Whedon films. With Scott Pilgrim finished and nothing else on his directorial slate, it's expected that Wright will helm the film if Marvel give it the green-light.
Wright directing a super-hero origin story about a biochemist that controls ants? Sounds about right. What say you readers? Excited for this? If it's to go ahead, I think it has the potential to be a bizarrely wonderful entry into the annals of Marvel cinema.
