I have an undying love for film's that take place in New York. Not just film's that happen to be set there, but film's that take the city's streets and utilize them to create a gritty, urban story. Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon are two shining examples of that. So it truly saddens me to hear that director Sidney Lumet passed away on Saturday, aged 86, from lymphoma. The five-time Oscar nominated maestro brought us such films as 12 Angry Men, Network, Prince Of The City, The Wiz and the previously mentioned Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon. If you've never seen any of these films, now is as good a time as any to explore Lumet's wonderful filmography.
