Charlie Hunnam, star of the popular FX action series, Sons Of Anarchy is currently in negotiations to play the lead character in Guillermo Del Toro's Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim tells the story of a Mech driver, who, after quitting has to return to his old job when a group of Kaiju (Godzilla-like beasts) emerge from a hole in the Pacific Ocean and begin attacking the planet. If Hunnam lands the role, he'll be playing said Mech driver.
While I wish Del Toro's Lovecraft adaptation had been given the greenlight, I'm certainly welcoming this with open arms. Kaiju monsters seem right up the director's alley, and he really knows how to bring these creatures to life in a creepy, yet fascinating way. And Hunnam has proven he's a very good actor thus far.
