Being one of the most anticipated films of 2012, it's safe to say that those involved with superhero supergroup The Avengers don't want anything secret leaking out - especially a whole year in advance. However, only a few days after production began, they've run into some serious script-based trouble. A number of film blogs and websites this week were offered a copy of the script, and not only was it legit, but it was the shooting script of one Nick Fury - Sam Jackson. Not a guy you'd want to steal from and get caught (if you're sane). One website, Obsessed With Film, even posted a photo of the script but none took the tempting bait and leaked the full details online - or if they did, Marvel got to them already. That being said, the leak has had serious implications for the movie as now the production has been completely shut down in Albuquerque, with no word on when it's going to resume. Movieweb also say that the scenes, featuring some key characters, will now be altered before the production resumes.
Is this a disaster for the movie? Probably not - it would have been worse if it was later in the process and the scenes had been shot, however there's no doubting how seriously Marvel will deal with this. The Avengers has absolutely enormous potential and has been brewing for years, so nothing is being left to chance. Don't expect the production to be shut down too long though - presumably all the stars involved have packed schedules.
Lets hope nothing big leaks out too, because speculating is almost as much fun.
