The buzz around it has been surprisingly good, so it's no surprise to see that 'fivequel' Fast Five has absolutely cleaned up at the box office everywhere, becoming Universal Studio's biggest opening ever (surprisingly) with $83.6 million this weekend in the US, according to Deadline. It's also the highest April opening ever, and more than both Rango and Rio (the two previous big hitters this year) combined. So far, it's the years biggest movie with an international total of $145million. You'll get some serious fluffy dice with that.
Beyond securing a sixth movie and ensuring Paul Walker is steadily employed, the movie has other implications too, as it has proven, presumably, to the 'suits' that director Justin Lin is a safe bet for them. Why is this of note? Well he's been talking up a Terminator movie, and at the same time some politician called Arnold Schwarzenegger spoke of taking a role in said film. So I think it's safe to say, with Fast Five absolutely raking it in, it won't be long before the Terminator returns.
