It's not been the easiest year for DC so far. Green Lantern, as incredible as it looks, has faced an uphill battle since the woefully received first trailer and worries over special effects, whilst their announcement that Zack Snyder was to direct Superman was met with cries of fear from those who saw Sucker Punch. Of course, even if Green Lantern doesn't do well this year they still have The Biggest Movie Of All Time that people will see whether they like it or not, Dark Knight Rises. Soon though, we may be getting some news that pertains both to their upcoming Superman movie and, perhaps more exciting, the whole DC Universe, says Movieweb.
In a couple of weeks time, Geoff Johns and Jim Lee, comic book legends, will be attending the Hero Complex Film Festival in L.A. and the reason they're going is to announce some news both for Superman and the wider DC movie world. Johns actually worked on Green Lantern, so they're involved in the current slate, and it's not unreasonable to think they'll be talking Justice League, confirming rumours perhaps that it will see cinema screens sooner rather than later.
I've always loved the JLA, and if done right, would definitely be a competitor to The Avengers by Marvel. But is now the right time? Sure, a version with separate actors could indeed work great, but alongside the current ones? If the 2013 rumours are true it would be especially problematic to see Green Lantern 2 (work in progress) and JLA out in the same year, with two different Lanterns. But time will tell! The announcement will be June 11th. In the meantime, check out the brilliant trailer for DC Universe (video game) for a look at what a stylised Justice League could look like.
