No, War of the Snow Whites isn't an upcoming Paul W.S Anderson film, but a reference to the ongoing saga of the two 2012 Snow White movies, both of which now have locked down casts and production dates. However there has been a twist as Relativity Media are pushing their Julia Roberts version up to March 16th, well ahead of Universal's Snow White & The Huntsman in June. That's a call to arms if anything.
What effect will it have? Well it's cutting things pretty fine for Tarsem and his team if they want to make it anyway tolerable. The most recent example of a rushed blockbuster was Transformers 2, and whilst that made big bucks was almost universally slated thanks to the cut & paste storyline and messy structure. It's almost impossible for Universal to bump up their movie to before then, so they're sticking with the summer which may or may not actually work out better. Sure, it's a crowded summer and will be open to comparisons with the first White movie, but Relativity will be competing with Hunger Games and Wrath of the Titans - both anticipated early blockbusters.
It's too early to tell, but hopefully all this press won't overshadow the movies (it almost definitely will).
