Cannes is still ongoing, and one of the big sellers was the comedy Great Hope Springs, which is about a married couple who go for counselling after thirty years being wed. Two of the reasons it was probably snatched up so fast was the star power of Meryl Streep (wife) and Steve Carrell (relationship expert), both big names and both well able to do comedy. Now, via THR, we learn that Tommy Lee-Jones will be the husband, in a role previously courted by Jeff Bridges. Of course, Jeff Bridges is The Man but ol' Agent K isn't without his charms, and despite usually playing the gruff n' rough guy in films does have pretty good comic timing. With a release date set for late 2012, this could easily be another It's Complicated style success for Streep, who will by then have probably won her Oscar for Iron Lady.
I'll bet a tenner with you on that one.
