Some potentially great news here, as the casting process for Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained goes on. With the general consensus being now that Will Smith won’t be getting on board, /film say that Jamie Foxx is in line for the role of Django, the slave who exacts revenge, Tarantino style. What’s more, they’re saying Leonardo DiCaprio is definitely signed on as Big Bad Villain Calvin Candie.
DiCaprio is definitely a good choice, and so if he is cast, that’s very positive. As for Foxx, whilst there’s no doubting his talent I still think the role should go to Idris Elba. Whilst many will point out that Foxx is a much bigger, Oscar winning name, that usually isn’t something that Tarantino needs, especially when you have someone as big as DiCaprio above the title anyway. And if rumours are to be believed, he could be heading for an Oscar himself this year too (J. Edgar).
Expect to hear more on this soon, as they gear up for production. Still plenty more roles to be cast, too.
