Young Clint Eastwood is currently at work on J. Edgar, his J. Edgar Hoover biopic starring Leonardo DiCaprio, but that hasn’t stopped him from preparing his next movie, a remake of A Star is Born. He’s already cast Beyonce in the lead role of a singer on the rise, and now Deadline report that he’s in the process of talking Leonardo DiCaprio into the role of an alcoholic star – cue romance.
If he signs on, the movie will no doubt gain even more exposure than it already is getting – perhaps the unexpected pairing of Eastwood and Beyonce has led to increased interest but it’s certainly been getting a lot of coverage. DiCaprio is on a roll too lately, and is tipped for the villain role in Tarantino’s next, Django Unchained. At the rate he’s going, the Oscar can’t be far. Beyonce has made no illusions about her own Oscar ambitions and Clint himself is no stranger, so you can expect to see the all-singing all-dancing movie out next year in time for nominations.
