Musical adaptation Rock of Ages is in production at the moment under the direction of Adam Shankman, with a pretty starry cast – Alec Baldwin, Catherine Zeta Jones, Mary J. Blige, Russell Brand, Julianne Hough and Tom Cruise as 80s rocker Staycee Jaxx
The movie is a big, loud musical with Hough playing a girl caught up in the rock world of 1980s LA. Now via /film we get our first look at Cruise in character. When he played a big, caricature character in Tropic Thunder it went down really well, and maybe he’s hoping this movie will help reverse his recent shaky reputation. Lets see – at least we know Alec Baldwin will deliver as ever, even if Cruise is more cringe than rock. The movie opens June 1 2012
