Knowing that Guillermo Del Toro will never return to the Hellboy universe is gutting. Hellboy and it's sequel are absolutely top notch comic book films. Well, they're just great films in general. That's why it disappoints me to report that Mike Mignola, creator of Hellboy, discussed the possibilities of a third film this week at the Calgary Comic Expo. He says, "Last I heard he said he would not make it. Guillermo -- who I love -- in every interview there's a new story on what his next movie is and he honestly believes he's going to do all these things. But last I heard, he said 'I'm never gonna get back to Hellboy. I'm not surprised because he won't live long enough to do a tenth of the movies he's told me he's going to make".
Of course, that doesn't mean we'll never see a Hellboy 3, but right now it seems like it's a real long shot.
