This one has been pretty under the radar, which is surprising. The first live-action film from Finding Nemo and Wall-E director Andrew Stanton, John Carter (previously John Carter of Mars) is about a soldier, Taylor Kitsch who somehow ends up on Mars.
As if that’s not inconvenient enough – there are two distinct sides of Martians fighting each other, the Greens and Reds. Civil war, if you will. The Greens include Thomas Hayden Church, Samantha Morton and Willem Defoe, whilst the Reds feature Dominic West and James Purefoy. Disney are behind the whole thing and there is a hell of a lot of post-production motion capture work to be done, perhaps explaining why only now are we getting a teaser poster.
Looks great though, with a pretty cool logo – although why there is still an M when they took it out of the title is beyond me. The movie is released the 9th March 2012, so I wouldn’t be surprised if we see a first teaser over the summer. Disney SAY they’re skipping Comic-Con, but seeing as this could be a big earner, will they really miss it?
