Last year, Marvel brought the house down more than all the Twilight movies combined when they not only announced the Avengers officially, but brought them all out on stage to insane applause. The Joss Whedon superhero teamup has been in production for about a month now, leading many to suspect a big presentation at Comic-Con in July – after all, it’s their last chance as the movie opens next May.
However, /film report that Marvel Studios will not be heading to Hall H, the venue for all the presentations. They seem to be following the footsteps of owner Disney, who are also apparently sitting the show out. Why? It could be that after Tron only did okay business, Disney are less keen on throwing money at the convention this time. There will still be loads of big movie events there regardless, with Amazing Spider-Man having a proper panel presentation and most likely, footage premiere too. However, I don’t think we’ll get through the whole thing without a good few surprises, maybe even Avengers related. They’d be mad to skip it entirely, wouldn’t they?
If they do completely skip it, expect proper promo at the D23 convention in August – basically a giant comic-con for the Disney corporation.
