Recently the trailer for ‘Hugo’, Martin Scorsese’s new 3D kids film, was released, and the reaction was lukewarm at best. Even putting aside the atrocious use of 30 Seconds To Mars in it, it looked cliched, dull and not in the least bit promising. But, I suppose I’m not exactly the target market so am glad to report that Scorsese will be returning to more adult fare soon enough.
He’s one of those directors who always has a million projects lined up, but slashfilm are reporting that he’s developing a remake of ‘The Gambler’ – a film about a beloved professor who (shocker) gambles his way into some serious trouble. With a script in the works by Departed scribe William Monahan, the whole thing already SCREAMS Scorsese, even more so when you see that Leonardo DiCaprio may sign on. Promising, yes?
It might be a while off yet though, with Scorsese having so much on his plate and Monahan just hired to work on Sin City 2, which you can read about right here.
