If ever there were an APPOPRIATE time for the Darth Vader ‘nooooooooo!’ – this is it.
Recently the writer of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, Seth Grahame-Smith, signed a big deal with Warner Bros with his writing partner David Katzenberg. He did some work on Tim Burton’s ‘Dark Shadows’ but his main claim to fame is the zombie rewrite and Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. The deal means Warners get a first look at their potential projects, and Slashfilm report that they want to do a new Beetlejuice that is ‘a reboot but advancing the story of the original’………
WHY?
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was, I have to say, MOSTLY the original book. The rewrite is enjoyable enough, but I am far from convinced they can do any justice whatsoever to the beloved Burton movie. I mean, who wants a remake of it? It’s pretty faultless as is and I’m sure Burton has better movies to do so probably wouldn’t be involved. Deadline reported that they said they pride themselves on original ideas, but this is one idea I’m hugely skeptical about.
