The folks over at IGN got their hands on a red-band trailer for the upcoming prequel, The Thing. It's a film that I personally look forward to (yes, I'm a huge fan of Carpenter's original) and while I don't think it's going to be remotely close to the quality of it's predecessor, I do think it's shaping up to be a fine looking horror film. The creature FX (about 65% CGI, 35% practical work) look great and the cast is more than capable, so it all comes down to whether or not the director has the balls to slow the film down and focus on the fear, paranoia and isolation (i.e. actual frightening things), rather than create a fast-paced gory thriller.
