MICHAEL JACKSON MOVIE IN THE PIPELINE?
According to Variety, there is momentum gathering for a pop biopic of Michael Jackson. Now that the Conrad Murray trial is over, the executive of Jackson’s estate John Branca has approached Ivan Reitman and Tom Pollock’s Montecito picture company. The movie will only be covering “certain periods of the late singer’s life”. While it seems inevitable that such a move would happen, the choice of director seems a little puzzling, Reitman’s movies which include, “My Super Ex-Girlfriend” and “Six Days, Seven Nights”. Pollack confirmed that the two sides are engaged in early talks but cautioned that there is no deal in place. A spokesman for Jackson’s estate had no comment. One feels that another director such as Martin Scorsese who directed the award winning “Bad” music video or perhaps Taylor Hackford who weaved the tale of Ray Charles into an Oscar winning yarn, might have been a better choice. Whatever the outcome, one thing is for certain we will see Michael Jackson on the big screen in the future.
