Warner Bros. have released the first official stills from Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming The Great Gatsby. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Carey Mulligan, Luhrmann’s take on the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic sees DiCaprio take on the titular role of Jay Gatsby. Due for release on Christmas Day in 2012, it’s Luhrmann’s first film since 2008’s love letter to his home, Australia. From the images below though, it looks like he’ll be channelling his 2001 hit, Moulin Rouge.
Synopsis: An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's Long Island-set novel, where Midwesterner Nick Carraway is lured into the lavish world of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. Soon enough, however, Carraway will see through the cracks of Gatsby's nouveau riche existence, where obsession, madness, and tragedy await.
