Looks like we’re going to be seeing a lot more of Vin Diesel on our screens. With the Fast and Furious star currently filming the third part of his Riddick trilogy, he’s spoken to The Hollywood reporter on the next instalmen(s) of the high octane franchise. With the development of the sixth film well underway, Diesel spoke about the possibility of a seventh.
“With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn’t have enough space.”
“We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages. The studio said, ‘You can’t fit all that story in one damn movie!’"
Considering the post credits footage at the end of Fast Five you’d expect a bumper cast for the next two instalments, with series regulars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Matt Schukze and Chris Bridges, joined by Dwayne Johnson, Eva Mendes and Michelle Rodriguez. The Fast & Furious 6 & 7 are due to be directed by series regular Justin Lin, with the sixth film due on May 27th, 2013.
