Michael Fassbender’s fantastic year continues as he’s been listed on IMDB’s Top 10 Emerging Stars of 2011 list. The German Born, Irish raised actor is joined on the list by Irish actress Saoirse Ronan, topping off a great year for both actors.
To quote IMDB on Fassbender “The German-Irish actor stole scenes in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds, and wowed audiences and critics alike in four films released in 2011: Jane Eyre, as the mysterious and dashing Rochester; X-Men: First Class, playing the young Magneto; A Dangerous Mind, where he played Carl Jung; and the sex addiction dramaShame, which raised eyebrows with its NC-17 rating and may bring him into the Oscar race.”
On Ronan, “At the age of 13, the Irish-born Ronan garnered an Oscar nomination for 2004'sAtonement, a heady milestone in a career that's only begun its trajectory. After high profile roles in dramas The Lovely Bones andThe Way Back, she took on the surprising mantle of action heroine with the kinetic drama Hanna. It’s fantastic to see two Irish actors make the list, and they’re in good company, with Winter’s Bone actress Jennifer Lawrence taking the number one spot, with Tom Hardy in second. Both stars are set to have an equally impressive 2012, with Fassbender starring in upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus, directed by Sir Ridley Scott and Ronan playing the lead in Stephenie “Twilight” Meyer’s next major franchise, The Host.
