It seems director Sam Mendes is really making his mark on the Bond movie Skyfall, word is that he wants Thomas Newman to do the score for the project, taking over from David Arnold. Newman has worked with Mendes before so it is probably no great surprise, although Arnold has been in charge of the music since he was recommended for Tomorrow Never Dies. He has worked on every Bond movie since then and has been well received as he has helped in the revamp of the franchise since the departure of Pierce Brosnan. The producer’s Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli have alot of control over the project so they are obviously backing Mendes to the hilt on this one. The choice of Newman for the new score is interesting, he has worked on notable projects such as The Shawshank Redemption and Meet Joe Black. Skyfall is currently shooting and is expected out towards the end of the year.
