with the Oscars less than a week away a huge announcement was made that one of Hollywood's power couples would be presenting an award on the evening. Tom Hanks, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and Halle Berry may all be presenting awards on the night but surely one of the highlights will come when Kermit the frog and his long time girlfriend Miss Piggy make their appearance, in what will in fact be the fifth time they grace the Oscar stage. The couple who have made many films together are currently starring in the new Muppet film which has an Oscar nomination in the best original song category for “Man or Muppet” by Brent McKenzie a song which is not sung by Miss Piggy.
it is somewhat of a turnaround for Miss Piggy who only recently hinted that she would steer clear of the ceremony all together in protest of the Academy not recognizing pigs as actors, "I don't know (if I will go). It's wonderful to be nominated in the Best Song category, even if it wasn't a song I sang. As for going to the Oscars, it's hard to feel right about going to an event like that where you're not really welcome," she is quoted as stating not that long ago. It now however appears all is forgiven and one of the greatest double acts will be sure to entertain on Feb 26th at the Kodak Theatre although it would appear Miss Piggy’s ban on singing at the event is still in tact. it is not certain as of yet which category they will present for but it is a fitting tribute to a couple whose long suffering relationship has entertained kids and adults alike for a number of decades now.
