“I Alex Cross” the latest book by James Patterson to be turned into a major motion picture has been given a release date of October 26th by Summit Entertainment. The film a story of a detective called into investigate the murder of a family member, takes the title character on a ride through the seedy underbelly of the nations capital. The film is directed by Rob Cohen and will star among others Matthew fox and Edward Burns, the title role of Alex Cross is played by Tyler Perry who takes over the lead from Morgan Freeman who had played Cross in both “kiss the girls” and “along came a spider”.
The film will see Fox in his first film role since lost finished playing a extremely bad guy in the re-boot of the James Patterson series. The release date during the busy Halloween period for films will see it go up against “Halloween 3D” and the Gerard Butler film “Of Men and Mavericks”. The Patterson novels have sold millions worldwide and Lionsgate who recently purchased Summit (which will continue to operate as a brand within the company) will hope it makes a big impact during the spookiest time of year.
