The first Percy Jackson movie, The Lightning Thief, was actually quite a lot of fun, even though it was labelled, not unfairly, an American version of Harry Potter. The story of demi-god Jackson (Logan Lerman) and his adventures in Camp Half-Blood, a school for other demi-gods (seeing the Harry Potter comparisons now?) is based on a long running series of books by Rick Riordan.
Work on the second movie in the series, Sea of Monsters, has begun with Anthony Stewart Head, best known for his role of Giles in T.V's Buffy The Vampire Slayer and his work on a series of Nescafe ad's in the 80's, been brought in to play the role of Chiron, Percy's half human/half horse mentor. He is taking over the role from the original's Pierce Brosnan. The film also features a change of director, with Thor Freudenthal (Diary Of A Wimpy Kid) replacing Chris Columbus. The story will see Percy and his firends attempt to save Camp Half-Blood by finding the fabled Golden Fleece.
The film also stars Missi Pyle, Mary Birdsong, and Nathan Fillion.
