I know this story is technically not about movies but rather TV but I thought this item worth mentioning, particularly with the flurry of recent activity involving movie actors migrating back onto the small screen. With this in mind, reports have confirmed that Eddie Izzard has been pencilled in for the role of Grandpa Munster in the upcoming reboot entitled Mockingbird Lane. Yes that Eddie Izzard, outstanding comic genius and sometime actor who is making a big splash stateside, word is that director Bryan Singer along with writer and producer Bryan Fuller have landed their first choice for the hip octogenarian vampire. The show based on the hit 1960’s sitcom sees Izzard as the ancient elder statesman in the family who has a passion for snazzy suits and an eye for the ladies oh and with an ability to shape shift. While initial reaction maybe shock I can see this working, especially if Izzard is on form which let’s face it he always is. The title of the show is a reference to the family’s address and is being pitched as a comedy drama rather than an out and out sitcom, with a visual emphasis on the style of the show it seems Izzard will fit the bill. One to keep an eye on I feel, possibly a movie or two in it down the line, you never know...
