Since Fede Alvarez secured the services of Jane Levy for his leading lady in the Evil Dead reboot, the director has been busy adding to the casting roll with the likes of Lou Taylor Pucci and Shloh Fernandez. Reports confirm that Jessica Lucas of Cloverfield fame as well as Elizabeth Blackmore are in talks to join the film. Sam Raimi the movie’s creator is set to produce the project along with the star of the original movie and long-time friend, Bruce Campbell, (yep that guy who kept popping up in different guises in Raimi’s Spiderman trilogy).
The plot is slightly different from the original cult classics with Jane Levy playing Mia as a young woman who heads to a creepy remote cabin with a group of friends apparently weathering a drug withdrawal. Assuming that Lucas signs on, she will play a nurse who is also a best friend of the leading lady. Obviously with it being The Evil Dead, danger is just around the corner. Shooting is set to begin in April with New Zealand and Michigan as reported locations.
